Let’s Dive into Signature Cocktails | with Candy Bar Bartending

Hello Gorgeous!

We get asked all of the time about alcohol and we have seen clients approach these decisions in 1000 ways. So, I decided to consult some experts and learn what they see with all kinds of events across the board. Candace Duncan, owner of Candy Bar Bartending, is certainly an expert, and her company specializes in not only top-tier service, but amazingly curated cocktails! Here are some things to consider when thinking about alcohol for your wedding or large-scale event, specifically regarding specialty cocktails.

The Elevated Experience!

When it comes to creating a memorable wedding experience, every detail counts—including the drinks. Curated cocktail bars have become a popular addition to weddings and events, offering clients a chance to infuse personality into the party while giving the guests a leveled-up experience. But how do you strike the perfect balance between creativity and efficiency? As a planner, this question is something we deal with at just about every event. We want to WOW the guests and not make them wait.

The Challenging Cocktails!

So how do we avoid or at least control those long bar lines? Candace says, “I see it quite often, more than I think I should,” and the culprit is overly complicated drink choices! We encourage clients to consider the drink they would like to offer and the process it takes to make it WELL. If it take a while to make it at a regular bar when you are on date night, imagine the time it takes to make them en masse! “The more complicated the cocktails, the longer it takes... Try to avoid cocktails that require a lot of shaking and muddling,” Candace advises, and we certainly agree!

Time-intensive cocktails like mojitos—while undeniably delicious—are not ideal for large events. “Preparing them by muddling mint and limes takes too long,” says Candace. When planning your cocktail bar, keep efficiency in mind to ensure guests spend more time dancing and less time waiting for drinks.

(Don’t worry, we will give you some ideas to get that brainstorming started!)

The Timeliness Tips!

Signature cocktails are a fantastic way to personalize your wedding, but simplicity is key. Candace shares her top three tips for couples planning their drink menu:

  1. Keep it simple: Choose recipes that are easy to make and don’t require elaborate preparation.

  2. Limit the number of options: Offering one or two signature cocktails keeps the bar line moving.

  3. Choose batch-friendly cocktails: Drinks that can be partially pre-mixed in large quantities save time WITHOUT sacrificing quality.

Popular options for weddings include Lemon Drop Martinis, Old Fashioneds, Mules, and Margaritas. These crowd-pleasers are not only flavorful but also versatile, as they can be customized with seasonal ingredients.

Yes, you should hire a Pro! Here’s why!

As planners, we believe whole-heartedly in curating a professional and reliable team of vendors to execute your vision. Every single detail matters, so in this case, let’s not forget the bar! In the same way we don’t suggest taking your own photos at your wedding, we also highly suggest hiring a professional bartending service! Not only do they handle the ‘how much alcohol should I buy’ question (stay tuned for another blog on this one), but they can help with mixers, garnishes, and even those customized cocktail accessories for you. Many times, they will even purchase, deliver, and return the alcohol on your behalf! SOO worth it!

Professional companies, like Candy Bar Bartending, are a game-changer! Here is why:

  1. Professional Presentation and Aesthetics: A beautifully set-up bar adds sophistication to your reception

  2. Exceptional Service and Expertise: Experienced and well-dressed bartenders ensure smooth operations and happy guests

  3. Fresh Mixers and Unique Flavors: Hand-crafted and quality mixers using fresh fruits and herbs, helps to deliver cocktails that are both delicious and elevated

A curated cocktail bar not only enhances the guest experience but also creates an opportunity for you to showcase your style as a couple. With thoughtful planning and the right professionals by your side, your cocktail bar is sure to be a highlight of your big day.

Talk to your CWP about the vendor team they would suggest for you and your beverage dreams!
